What is the process by which & related costs for allowing customers to pay invoices online? see details below?
Our company already has a secure online system through which our customers can login with a unique username/password and view their open invoices on an invoice by invoice basis. We want to make the jump and allow our customers to pay online (preferably via electronic check but also with major credit cards). It is my job to prepare the internal sales pitch to take this next step. I expect resistance from IT (how much additional work for them to deploy & manage?) & upper management (what are the fees/costs?). Any help, advice is greatly appreciated.

- this is tough for you cuz there are so many things that can go wrong - get a bad credit card - sell a bunch of stuff to a fake buyer - have to keep the website updated properly with inventory data - hafta spend $300 for an SSL certificate One idea is to outsource all of this to a professional, but again IT may bark at that. Look for ways to handle these issues, or at least know that they're there. The key is showing that the opportunity exceeds the cost of the pain
