program or way to manage customer database?

i am working on creating a customer database that is comprised of many us postal mail addresses as well as customer emails. i am looking for a program that will help manage this easier. the usps should be able to easily looked at and add names while the email i need to be able to send many emails out at once to notify our customers easily. any help would be great on programs or how to go about it.

1. One program I really like is GroupMail from Infacta [http://infacta.com]. It's a great program with a lot of features, bounced mail management, email address verification, etc. Well worth the money, and it's not THAT expensive.
